"All of us at the Gibson Guitar 5K for St. Patrick Community Outreach, Inc. wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of Memphis Police Officer Verdell Smith. Officer Smith saved the lives of many citizens on Saturday, June 4, 2016 on B.B. King Blvd. near Beale Street, heroically sacrificing his life to protect and preserve the safety of others. We run the 20th annual Gibson 5K in loving memory of veteran Officer Verdell Smith and wish to honor all his colleagues on the Memphis Police Department ---the men and women in blue sworn to serve and protect us all.

Shirts for everyone registered by June 1, 2016 or the first 1,800 to sign up. After we reach 1,800 participants, we will put your name on a list to receive a shirt after the event.

Guitar Auction!


We will be auctioning two factory fresh, Memphis-made Gibson Guitars after the Vintage People's performance on Saturday night.

One is a Gibson ES 335; the other is a Gibson ES 339.
They can be seen live and in person on Thursday, June 9 at race packet pick up (Germantown only) at the Breakaway Running store, 2-6pm,
1223 S. Germantown Parkway. They can also be viewed at the
Breakaway Midtown location on Friday, June 10 (10am to 6pm).
Those wishing to e-mail a bid can do so to jbirch@wmctv.com.
Minimum bid: $1,000 per guitar.
The e-mailed bids will be the starting bids at the LIVE auction on Saturday night, June 13th before the awards program.
